Al-Wasat (The Centre) was a leading independent Arabic daily newspaper in Bahrain. It was founded in 2002 by Mansoor Al-Jamri and a group of investors and was widely regarded as the only independent newspaper in the country, providing a platform for diverse viewpoints. It was known for its investigative reporting and coverage of human rights and social issues. The newspaper was forcibly closed by the Bahraini authorities in 2017.
