Galal Amer was a prominent Egyptian writer and journalist. A graduate of the Military Academy, he served in three Egyptian wars and was an officer during the October War. He is considered one of the most important satirical writers in Egypt and the Arab world. He passed away on February 12, 2012, following a heart attack during a protest. In his honor, Alexandria Governorate named a street after him in the Bahary area.
